encouraging

to my weary warriors

A little poetic doodle for today:

I wish the world was softer for you. I wish
It touched you with feathered fingertips
And didn’t twist its fist into your chest like
One at war – when I know
That you don’t want to fight,
That you would talk it out if
Anyone would listen. I would lift
This burden from your shoulders
If I could. I would warm the colder
Corners of this house with all the light
That doesn’t shine outside.
I would hide you, if the choice were mine.
I would guide you to align
Yourself with peace, and protect you
From the harm. I would warn you away
From all that grieves you, keep you
From the fray, and ever sheltered
From the world that needs you.

Bitter Brew

Bitter Brew

There is Beauty

There is beauty
Far beyond the reach of man
Light years from our grasping hands
Untouched by our feral noise
Heedless of our woes and joys
Pure, pristine, crystalline snow.
Wild roses live, and grow,
Bloom, and wither brown and die,
All without the human eye
To appraise or claim their grace
Time that does not heed our pace
Silent, sturdy trees that breathe
Life that we cannot conceive
Somewhere, far beyond our pains
There are flowers, moons, and plains,
There is beauty

Theme Week: Fighting for Light – 1

Light in Darkness

The stars that burn against the void
Are mirrored by the fireflies
That sparkle under twilight trees,
With fields as their expansive skies.
The moon pours down upon the sea
Shimmering milk on chocolate surf,
That makes soft gray of all the sands,
And gentle sloths the searing turf.
Beauty is not confined to day,
For in the dark and dread of night,
We see the common world anew.
Our souls can always find the light.

Believe in You

The world is a hard, stark place, my love
Life can be a bitter brew
So when there is fear
And the darkness draws near
Love, you must believe in you

Though time and tears weigh you down, my dear,
Show confidence in all you do
For when there is change
And the stars rearrange
You must still believe in you

Remember the love of the ones you hold close,
You are never alone, it is true,
But sometimes you fall.
You will win through it all,
If you will believe in you.
